Many orthopaedic surgical procedures (e.g., on the hand, fingers, foot) can be
conducted at a day care centre, where patients are treated and can leave the
hospital the same day.
At the Orthopaedic Hospital Vienna-Speising, such a day care centre opened in
September 2008. It consists of three highly integrated and well-equipped
operating theatres. Operating theatres of this kind are unique in
Austria.
Whether a patient is treated in the day care centre is dependent on the exact
diagnosis and the patients general health condition. Prospective patients
should consult their physicians regarding this matter.
