The new Orthopaedic Hospital Vienna-Speising
After scarcely 2
years of construction time, a new part of the building with a ground surface of
8000 sq.m. was inaugurated in autumn 2008. The new building accommodates all
outpatient facilities, bed stations, and the new day care
centre.

The extension impresses with its generous premises, more light, more comfort, a
better hotel component, and modern high-tech facilities:
In detail:
Outpatient counter and admission all in one
The reception area located in the entrance hall also serves as a meeting point
for all outpatients and people who are to be admitted as inpatients.
Day care centre with ultramodern operating theatres
An essential part of our hospital is the new orthopaedic day care centre with
three operating theatres. If medically possible, patients are admitted, undergo
surgery, and are released on the same day. At the day care centre, we offer
“smaller” surgical procedures, such as surgery of the hand, finger, or foot.
The division of more extensive operations being performed in the central
operating theatre and smaller operations being performed in the day care centre
has led to a notable reduction in waiting time before surgery.
Magnetic resonance imaging clinic
Another component of the new building is Dr. Baders magnetic resonance imaging
clinic. At this external facility, outpatients and inpatients are offered quick
and competent magnetic resonance imaging examinations with superior apparatus
providing top image quality. The apparatus is open and ample compared with
conventional models.
Internet at the bedside
All beds (currently only at station H) are equipped with patient information
terminals for television, radio, telephone, and internet access. Internet
service requires a fee.
Via the screens, physicians can show radiographs or playback informational
films about surgery.
Internet, radio, television, and medical terminal all in one.
