General Information
The INTERNATIONAL MEETING on KIENBÖCK´S DISEASE VIENNA May 14th and 15th 2010
This congress is meant to be one of the largest Hand Surgery symposia ever in Austria bringing into Vienna the best recognized specialists on this topic and a number of well-known hand surgeons from all over the world. The meeting will start with an informal get-together of radiologists and hand surgeons discussing the poorly understood problem of instability of the carpus and the so often misdiagnosed pathology of the TFCC. This will take place in the afternoon of May 13th.
Official part: On first day there will be a historical report on the person Robert Kienböck and the pathology he is famous for nowadays. Much room will be given to aetiology, imaging and classification before lunch.
In the afternoon we shall witness the presentations on conservative treatment and the controversial topic of revascularization.
Saturday will bring papers and discussion on joint levelling techniques, arthrodesis, salvage procedures and free papers.
We are looking forward to the thoughts laid out by David Lichtman summarizing the results and giving us an outlook to the future of this entity.
The scientific program will be accompanied by a social one including informal get together at a Heurigen on May 13th (on invitation), gala dinner on Friday 14th and a farewell lunch on Saturday. During the breaks there will be drinks and sandwiches as well as coffee and viennoiserie with the possibility of visiting the industrial area and reading the posters either on display or on screen.
Hoping to have caught your attention and looking forward to your participation.
