The INTERNATIONAL MEETING on KIENBÖCK´S DISEASE VIENNA May 14th and 15th 2010
This congress is meant to be one the largest Hand Surgery symposia ever in Austria bringing into town the best recognized specialists on this topic and a number of well known hand surgeons from all over the world. The meeting will start with an informal get together of radiologists and hand surgeons discussing the poorly understood problem of instability of the carpus and the so often misdiagnosed pathology of the TFCC. This will take place in the afternoon of May 13th.
This first get in touch will be followed by the visit of a typical Heurigen nearby Speising Hospital. We are hoping to have you as our guest at this site with the chance of a meet again and making new friends. A shuttle service will be provided from Speising to the Heurigen restaurant and later back to the main hotels.
On first day there will be a historical report on the person Robert Kienböck and the pathology he is famous for nowadays. Much room will be given to aetiology, imaging and classification before lunch.
In the afternoon we shall witness the presentations on conservative treatment and the controversial topic of revascularization.
For the evening we are planning a gala dinner, chairmen and speakers will be invited. There will be a shuttle service from the congress venue and the main hotels to and back from restaurant.
Saturday will bring papers and discussion on joint leveling techniques, arthrodesis, salvage procedures and free papers.
We are looking forward to the thoughts laid out by David Lichtman summarizing the results and giving us an outlook to the future of this entity.
During the breaks there will be drinks and sandwiches as well as coffee and viennoiserie with the possibility of visiting the industrial area and reading the posters either on display or on screen.
You will be assisted by our congress bureau in any question as transfer from and to airport, accommodation and special wishes like ticketing to the Musikverein, the Opera and so on.
A shuttle service will be on duty with stationing either at the congress venue or the main hotels.
In any case please don’t hesitate to ask for further information!
Looking forward to meeting you in Vienna and to hearing your presentation.
Thank you for participating in this great effort to augment knowledge on Kienböck’s disease and bringing about new ideas on its treatment
