The Michael Ogon Laboratory for Orthopaedic Research is a basic research laboratory within the Orthopaedic Hospital Vienna-Speising. The institution conducts a wide range of research projects in collaboration with national and international companies as well as research institutes. Our mission is to further improve and develop therapies for orthopaedic patients.

History of the Lab

This research institution is named after Prof. Dr. Michael Ogon (1960-2018), long-serving head of the department of Spine Surgery and the Spine Centre, which combines surgical and conservative treatment methods. Prof. Ogon was the founder of the predecessor of this lab, the so-called Cell Laboratory, which is dedicated to basic research in spine surgery.

Due to Prof. Ogon's tireless efforts and commitment in finding new methods in spine surgery and orthopaedics as a whole, today's lab has been named after him.
